Student Application

In any endeavor, worthwhile development takes place slowly. Regular dance class attendance over a period of time results in a student feeling self-confident poised and assured in the dance skills they have learned. Dancescape, LLC does not instruct dance as so many steps in a "routine"; rather, the study of dance is promoted as an expressive art form, one which is subject to personal interpretation and, as such, must be explored and expressed by the individual.

Each level of dance instructed at Dancescape, LLC has a methodology and a course content to be mastered by the student. Promotions to a higher level are at the discretion of the instructor.

Student Attendance

All students are encouraged to attend classes regularly from August to May. We strongly discourage students from dropping out. Students may switch to another class section on a temporary basis, provided the particular class section is not full. It is the responsibility of the student to conference with his or her instructor prior to switching to another class section.

Absences & Tardiness

The fee paid for a missed class reserves the student's place in class. If a student must miss class, it is the responsibility of the student (or parent in the case of our younger students) to notify the instructor in advance. In case of severe illness or injuries (e.g., fracture, broken bone), please advise the instructor or call the Director, Jessica Boudreau.

Dancescape, LLC provides quality instruction in small class groups. Students must be at the studio in the appropriate class attire approximately 10 minutes prior to the stated start time of class. Latecomers will not be allowed to participate in class for that day.

Make-up Classes

Missed classes may be made-up by attending another class section. Any class missed due to holiday closure, absenteeism, or transportation problems are eligible to be made up. Permission is not required for make-up classes. If you are not sure which class is proper for you or your children, ask your instructor to suggest the appropriate make-up class.

Discipline

Dancescape, LLC encourages positive behavior in students through positive reinforcement and praise. Please advise the Director, Jessica Boudreau, when situations arise at home, work or school that may adversely influence student behavior.

Dancescape, LLC reserves the right to refuse instruction to any student who disrupts class to such a degree that other student's quality of instruction is compromised. Upon a student displaying disruptive behavior, the following steps shall be taken:

  • At the time of the disruptive behavior, sit the student on the side until proper behavior can be exhibited.
  • Discuss with the student the disruptive behavior, the expected behavior, and the reasons expected behavior is necessary.
  • If the behavior continues, discuss the situation (including possible causes and effects) with the parents.
  • In cases of extreme behavioral problems, the instructor, with the concurrence of the Director, may decide to withhold instruction for a period of time as determined by the Instructor and Director (with parental input).

Holidays

Dancescape, LLC follows the St. Tammany Parish School Board schedule of holiday closure of two or more consecutive days including, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mardi Gras and Easter. Occasionally, classes may be cancelled for adverse weather conditions. No deductions are allowed for holiday closure or cancelled classes. Classes may be made-up.

Open Class

We no longer have open class. Our new studio location now has a viewing area for all parent, family, and friends.

Class Observation

Parents of prospective student/students are encouraged to observe classes in advance of enrollment to ascertain the quality of instruction offered by Dancescape, LLC.

Working Scholarship

A limited number of reduced tuition scholarships may be made available to students of Dancescape, LLC of high school age or older who wish to train to become teaching assistants. Any student who meets these requirements should contact the Director if he/she wishes to be considered for the next available teaching assistant position and the associated working scholarship.
